The Yummiest Canadian Dessert

,

There are not many “Canadian” foods, but we managed to make some Canadian desserts while here in Victoria and they sure are delicious!

My favourite Canadian dessert would have to be Butter Tarts!

Here is how you can make this AWESOME dessert:

Ingredients:

  • 12 pastry cups or your own home made pastry
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup of corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 lightly beaten egg

7. Eat!

Wow delish!

Some people like to add raisins or nuts but you can add whatever you want.

We enjoyed this treat as soon as it came out of the oven and it was so yummy! I think it would also taste as good with ice cream!

    1. Hi!

I love these butter tarts! The recipe is so easy! It was my first time making them, and wont be the last! 🙂

  2. Hi, Zoe, Opa just bought a Pecan Pie, which is like a huge Butter tart, and even though I have the best intentions, I cannot resist to eat at least “a sliver”. I love Butter tarts, I can just smell yours coming fresh out of the oven. I don’t know yet if I make them myself, my hips yell: NO, No, NO, bad, bad, bad!!! 🙂 Love to all and enjoy

    1. Hi!

One day when I come over we should make them together! That Pecan Pie sounds delicious! 🙂

  3. Hi Zoe,
WOW! They certainly look delicious! You are so right! They definitely would go well with ice cream! Thanks for sharing! Love, Baba.

    1. Hi!

Oh well, since we ate them, I guess we will have to make another batch to try it with the ice cream! 🙂

I love butter tarts, and so does Uncle Peter. When I was in high school, first lunch was the best because you knew that there would be tarts available to buy in the cafeteria. By the second lunch period, they were gone. So popular! Your blog reminded me that I have not made them in a long time. Better check to see if I have the ingredients needed.

Thanks for sharing the recipe. Now, if there was only some way to forward some of those tarts you made…

    1. Hi!

When was the last time you made them? Three years ago? Don’t make that four! 🙂
