Petits Pains au Chocolat

,

I learned how to make a delicious French recipe that you can eat for breakfast!

I made Petits Pains au Chocolat, but not the real French Pain au Chocolat. The real French pastry is made from scratch but probably takes a really long time to make. But, I have the real quick Petits Pains au Chocolat recipe.

Now for the really awesome, delicious, quick, yummy, good, amazing, crispy, sweet, tasty, mouth watering, scrumptious, flakey, chocolatey, really really quick Petits Pains au Chocolat recipe. (The recipe is shorter than that sentence!)

Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry
4 3.5- ounce bars of milk chocolate
1 egg
1 tbsp Water
sprinkle of sugar (optional)

Process:

1) Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2) Cut the puff pastry into 24 squares.

5) Pre heat the oven to 400º F.

6) Break the chocolate into small squares and wrap it in the pastry.

7) Use the rest of the egg mixture on the top of the pastries and sprinkle some sugar on them if you would like.

8) Put the pan in the oven and bake it for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.

9) When it is done baking, put it off to the side to cool.

10) When it has cooled, eat them and enjoy!

We had a little bakery at the top of our street and bought Pain au Chocolat; it was so good!

They make it from scratch and take a lot of time and care to make them perfect.  The ones I made are fast to make and delicious to eat.  You don’t have to be a French baker to make them!

    1. Hi!

You are right, they do look like sausage rolls! It would be a sweeter surprise if we ate them instead of sausage rolls for dinner!

    Sounds yummy!!!

    Nothing trumps chocolate. 😀

  5. Thanks for sharing Zoe. It is amazing how Europeans love to cook with chocolate. Having a Dutch background it reminds me of all the ways we love to use chocolate. Making a dutch pancake (pannekoeken) with chocolate and bananas. You can thinks of pannekoeken’s as a cross between north american pancakes and crepes. If your travels take you to the Netherlands, make sure you visit a Pannekoeken House, there not just for the sweet tooth.

  6. Hi, Zoe, I don’t know, how I missed this delicious recipe. But – even though a little late – I had the pleasure to try some yesterday and I will make this recipe for sure and soon. It was delicious 🙂 Thanks for letting us try the goodies. XOXO Oma and Opa
