An Irish Breakfast Treat!

,

Since I really wanted to try interesting foods in Ireland, my mom went to the store and bought black and white puddings, which are made of pork meat and fat, oatmeal, other spices, and (only in the black pudding) BLOOD!

In the package, they look like white and light brown sausages. We thought that the easiest way to cook them would be to fry them, so that’s what I did. I cut them up so that they looked like mini raw hamburgers and put them in the frying pan with a bit of oil.

When they started bubbling and making little popping noises, I flipped them over. I flipped them back and forth a couple times until they looked cooked and smelt really good. I wasn’t really sure what they would look like when they were finished because it was my first time making them.

They tasted really good, and you could hardly tell that there was any blood in them. They were kind of salty so I had to drink 3 glasses of water after eating them. Although they may not sound very appetizing, I think that so far, they are my favourite Irish food, although I haven’t tried any Guiness yet….

  1. Hi Mikhaila. This definitely shows you are adventurous also when it comes to food! I had my first taste of black pudding in Scotland…I’ll share the photo with you sometime…it wasn’t quite my favourite food:). Love that you cooked them up yourself! Did the rest of the family enjoy as well? Love, Teta Mae

You are braver than I have ever been Mikhaila, though I do like Irish sausages. Have you had a “FULL IRISH” breakfast yet? Delicious with broiled tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, potato bread, eggs, bacon and sausage! Sounds like you are having a wonderful time and I am thoroughly enjoying hearing all about your adventures. Love Teta Doreen

    1. Hi Mikhaila,
I’m sure that the drinking age does not begin at 12. Maybe you’ll have to wait until July 27th! I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.

I’m glad you are experiencing the culture through food, Mikhaila. You will have to prepare a Global Feast for us when you return. Here is an idea…why don’t you start a Global Recipe Book as a project.

  6. Way to go, Mikhaila, fearless and adventurous to try everything.
