Our Own Gaudi Artwork

,

After seeing all of the artwork with mosaics created by Gaudi, we wanted to try to make our own mosaic art.  We found a great place on Trip Advisor called Mosaiccos  and decided to have an art class for school that day.

Our classmates were from different places around the world including the U.S.A., Greece and Australia.

Our art teacher, Angelika was very kind and supportive.  She helped us whenever we needed her assistance.

The first step is to choose what to make.  Mikhaila and I chose to make picture frames so we have a place to display some of our favorite pictures from our trip.

Start out with an empty frame

Second, we had to pick our colours.  I wanted to make a globe so I used blues and greens.  Mikhaila made her frame multicoloured.

Next, we had to cut it with special glass cutters.  (Make sure you are wearing safety glasses!)

After, we had to use special glue to secure each piece in the right spot.

Finally, Angelika covered our frames it in mortar which fills in all of the little gaps between the different pieces of glass.

Our Mosaics

Mikhaila made hers with many colours which looks really nice.

I wanted to make mine like a globe so I can put photos from our global field trip.  I used many different shades of blue and green and used mirror for the stars and sky.

Two days later, we returned to Mosaiccos to pick up the finished products….  They looked AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

Making the glass mosaics was fun because we were able to cut our own glass and it was more advanced then what we are used to.  Now we will have a great place to display our travels around Barcelona.

We had a great time making the glass mosaics because it was fun and we had never done it before.

    1. Hi!

It was great because we got to make our own and at the same time got a souvenir! 🙂

  4. Hi, Zoe, Loved you step by step posting, as always, great photos. The frames are amazing and I like the thoughts behind the colour choices. I guess you have to combine farming, cooking, arts and crafts in one big enterprise when you come back, and all watched over by at least two or three dogs. XOXO’s

    1. Hi!

I think the dogs will have a great time looking at all of our photos and helping us decide which ones we should put in our frames! 🙂

  5. They look amazing! What a neat idea and a wonderful keepsake to bring home.
