Arrival in Dublin

,

Our flight left Toronto on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:10 P.M.  On our flight, they surprisingly gave us dinner and breakfast.  We did not get much sleep on the flight, but it still seemed to pass quickly.  I thought the landing was interesting.  At first, you could see the fields and cities far away, and everything looked so tiny, especially the cars.  As we got closer to landing, everything got larger and larger until we were on the ground and everything was its normal size!

I am having so much fun in Ireland.  The hostel is very small with two green bunk-beds, but we like it.  After having a 5 hour nap, we walked around Dublin and got dinner at a grocery store.  We went back to the hostel and made sandwiches and had carrots on the side for dinner.  After that, we stayed around in the hostel until about midnight our time which was about 7:00pm Ontario time.
We woke up the next morning and got ready for breakfast. We went to the lobby and waited for our tour bus to come and pick us up.  Our tour guide is a very kind and funny man.  He sang some amazing Irish songs and for the last one, taught us the chorus so we could sing along.  On part of our tour we saw amazing mountains that were covered in trees, grass and sheep.  The whole tour was about 9 and a half hours. He let us sit and eat lunch for 3 hours in front of the Kilkenny castle.
Kilkenny castle is a beautiful castle with a big garden with a fountain and benches.  The flowers were a beautiful shade of red.  There is also a field where we had lunch.
Interesting things in Dublin:

  • cobblestone streets

  • “look left” and “look right” signs are painted on the road at cross-walks so you can see where the cars are coming from

  • multicoloured doors

  • And something to remind us of home…
Oh, Canada!

Dublin is a fun and happy city.  The people we have met tell jokes and just make you so happy and glad to be there.

Took me forever to realize that I wasn’t on the blog list. So, I’m just catching up on the blogs. Already, I’m captured by the narratives and visuals. Thank you for sharing all of this with us vicarious travellers! My best to the whole family!
